The nation is in an uproar over the most controversial story to hit the news headlines: Team USA U.S. Olympics uniforms are made in China.
While most of us feel that the fact that the Team USA uniforms are made in China is a matter of national disgrace, there are those such as Senate Majority Leader, Democrat from Nevada, who is chastising the U.S. Olympic Committee over recent reports, saying officials should burn them!
Reid stated that China has already taken gold from the United States from Day One by manufacturing our Team USA uniforms to be worn during the opening ceremonies, adding that the Olympic Committee “should be ashamed.”
Reporters on Capitol Hill were told that they should burn these uniforms and he’d rather that American athletes wear shirts with “USA” hand-painted on them. Other politicos had similar sentiments…
House Speakerand Minority Leader also responded to the growing controversy on Thursday.
Boehner said “You’d think they’d know better,” while Pelosi stated that she took “great pride in our Olympic athletes” and tried to watch them as much as possible, sometimes staying up all night (like the rest of us!) to see as much of them as possible. And most of all, “they should be wearing uniforms made in America.”

In fact, every item as part of their official Team USA uniforms has been made overseas! That says a lot for America’s faith in the American people who are jobless, dejected and thrown on the dung heap while most of the manufacturing of previously American-as-apple-pie merchandise goes overseas… And nothing is sacred!
Is that the spirit we want to proudly convey while marching in the Opening Ceremony in the London Olympics?
