BIG HOTEL UNITS FOR SALE !!!
Large hotel resorts in Rhodes are for sale due to the ongoing economic crisis, which has smashed all productive sectors of the economy.
According to information, owners of big hotels are exploring the possibilities of selling their property and in fact, some of them even have come into contact with large real estate agencies.
This development is a result of the ongoing economic crisis and recession which caused severe side effects at local level ( estimates are that this winter, things will get worse with all that this implies at local level)
Of course, the intention of selling hotels is not something that came suddenly. Last year, but also in previous years has shown such tendencies, sense for many of the business person in the area it is a particularly difficult situation.
Indeed, there is interest in selling hotels but the point is.... that nobody is interested to buy, said former chairman of the Hoteliers Association, Mr. B. Minaidis and his view seems to shared by many of the entrepreneurs in the area today.
Similar trend also exist in almost all tourist areas.
It should be noted that the fact that last year's tourist season was good enough for our area ( note; there is a known 20% decrease in tourist arrivals) and that slowed the tendency of selling hotel down.
But this year, because the season has known problems, especially in terms of revenue decline, began to show similar movement of sales.
According to information that just saw light of day, one of the units to be sold is the Sheraton Rhodes, which as mentioned in "Vima"has put the company "Tourist Resort A.E." in the store.
The luxurious hotel, formerly known as Hilton Imperial Rhodes, completely renovated and reopened in April 2011 under management of the hotel chain Sheraton, assigned the leading american company in real estate Carlton to find a buyer.
Reliable sources indicate however that the owner company has very specific expectations about the price and although the international buyer interest in Greece is subdued to non-existent at this time due to political and economic liquidity, does not intend to sell if the offer is unsatisfactory.
This is the second large hotel in Rhodes for sale, due to the extremely adverse conditions that have been developed in recent years in business, even though Rhodes is a popular tourist destination.
Already looking for a buyer, the former Sofitel Capsis Rhodes Ixia Beach, owned by the bank Eurobank and consists of a complex with 5 buildings in which there are 691 rooms with a capacity of 1,820 beds and features a conference center for 8,000 people.
