For God and my Country ( 4GC), a political pressure group vows to continue with rallies country wide despite police several warnings not to traverse the country. This political pressure group says it's aim is to reach the masses and tell them how the ruling Government has failed to address national concerns like increased corruption, poor service delivery and economic mismanagement among others.
Recently, the Attorney General announced activities of 4GC as being illegal. The 4GC pressure group was violating sub- section 5 of section 56 of the penal code act according to the Attorney General. Despite being outlawed, the pressure group vows to continue with their rallies in Western Uganda. According to the coordianator, Mpuuga says that they have started this week in Western regions of Kabale, Bushenyi and Rukugiri areas and next week they will continue in Eastern, Tororo district.
'' We have started in Western Uganda this week and next week we will be in Eastern region. We have not earmarked Kampala because people in Kampala are quite 'informed' '' Said Mpuuga, the co-ordinator 4GC, a political pressure group.
Police spokesman Mr. Assuman Mugenyi says that the Attorney General has outlawed the 4GC pressure group and all it's activities.
''We are not going to allow 4GC pressure group to traverse the country because it's activities are illegal.'' Assuman said.
The police spokesperson says that the members of 4GC pressure group will be punished if they continue with the illegal assemblies.Assuman Mugenyi says that illegal assemblies calls for a penalty of 7 years in prison.
Assuman Mugenyi adds that 4GC has also been stop from using the National flag, a violation of section 3 and 4 of the penal code act.
