Wills and Kate's Seychelles honeymoon

London, 11 July 2012

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are said to be absolutely 'furious' after an Australian magazine published private pictures of the royal couple’s honeymoon in Seychelles last year.

Apparently, the Aussie monthly magazine 'Woman's Day' took the controversial decision to publish the 'world exclusive' photographs of Kate and Wills, despite knowing it would not be taken well by the royals.

The magazine’s front page features the royal couple baring a lot of flesh on the Seycelles beach during their honeymoon last May. It is as yet not known how the publication got hold of the exclusive pictures.

In the cover photograph, Prince William is seen sporting a pair of colorful shorts; while Kate is seen attired in a black bandeau bikini. The text besides the photograph states: ‘Wills and Kate: Our island paradise - Their romantic getaway revealed.’

In one of the pictures published inside the July 10,th 2012 issue, Wills and Kate are seen walking hand-in-hand alongside the tranquil beach; while in another the royal couple is seen frolicking in the glorious blue seas of Seychelles.

In one of the pages is the line: 'The Seychelles has deep significance for William and Kate. It was the setting for a make-or-break holiday in 2007 after their split.'

Wills and Kate had flown off for their honeymoon holiday in May last year, to the exclusive Seychelles North Island, a few days after their grand Westminster Abbey nuptials in April.

It was an opportunity for the young couple to escape from the persistent media’s glare that surrounded them and spend 10 days in each other’s company in total seclusion, for a truly private vacation.

At that point the grapevine was rife with reports that even Kate Middleton had no inkling where Prince William was whisking her off to and that the Duke had planned the whole Seychelles jaunt as a surprise.

Once Wills and Kate returned, the happy newly weds expressed their gratitude to the Seychelles officials for 'a memorable and special 10 days,' acknowledging that they had 'thoroughly enjoyed their time together' on the island.

Apparently most newspapers knew about the closely guarded secret location of Wills and Kate honeymoon before they jetted off. However, after the royal couple’s request for privacy, the media respecting their private time together, refrained from sending photographers to the honeymoon destination.

Now a full fifteen months after their wedding, Wills and Kate are understood to be feeling betrayed and upset that the beach photographs of their honeymoon were chosen to be published by the Australian magazine, especially of their ‘special time.’

Today a St. James’ Palace spokesperson told news site Celebuzz: 'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s honeymoon was obviously a private occasion, and we would ask people to respect their privacy.' The carefully worded statement from the Palace succinctly sums up the deep sense of disappointment of the royal couple.
