Pennsylvania child rapist pleads guilty to rape charges

A Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty to raping young girls. He also admitted to drugging those girls before raping them.

The 67-year-old man from Pennsylvania pleaded guilty on Tuesday to various child sexual abuse charges. The admittance of the crimes put an abrupt end to the trial, which took place in Pennsylvania and could have lingered on, and even granted leniency to the punishment. The man under question is named Barry McOwen and he was charged with a total of 651 counts of sexual abuse charges including multiple rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual abuse of children, endangering the welfare of children, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, invasion of privacy and drug violation charges.

McOwen's lawyer, George Yacoubian Jr., said that some of the charges that McOwen had pleaded guilty to included one count of child rape, three counts of indecent assault, four counts of creating child pornography and one count of dissemination of child porn.

McOwen pleaded guilty to some of the charges on the second day of the trial. If he is proven guilty on all of the charges levied against him, he can end up getting 50 to 100 years in prison. The decision to plead guilty to some of the charges has given McOwen the chance to avoid some of the harshest punishments and it also spares his family from having to testify in court.

Barry McOwen was arrested last year after he was caught exchanging child porn videos over the internet. According to sources, McOwen used to take pictures and videos of his victims while sexually abusing them and then share those with other people over the internet.

"All the times I loved touching her and fondling her and the best part is she has no clue," McOwen allegedly said in one particular chat, according to a criminal complaint obtained by msnbc.com.

McOwen is charged with raping young girls between the ages of six to 10 years of age. He used to mix prescription and allergy medicines and give them to his victims as "special juice" before he would rape them. He often used to recount his experiences over the internet in chat rooms. His horrific narrations included very graphic details of the rapes. All those sexual assaults took place over the course of five years from 2006 to 2011.
