He was a father, an actor, an entertainer and one of the greatest performers in the Philippines, who brought tears and laughters to everyone had passed away at 83.
The King of Comedy Rodolfo “Dolphy” Quizon died due to multiple organ failure, the Makati Medical Center said, where he was rushed few weeks ago due to pneumonia.
“We would like to inform the public that Mr. Rodolfo “Dolphy” Quizon, passed away today, at 2034H (8:34 p.m.) due to multiple organ failure, secondary to complications brought about by severe pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and acute renal failure,” the hospital said in a statement.
“We join the entire Filipino Community in praying for the soul of Mr. Quizon and his dearly beloved family and friends,” it said.
“To the Quizon Family, we extend our deepest condolences.”
His most significant roles most recognizable by Filipinos are gay roles in various movies from the 1950's up to the 2000's and in the TV shows John en Marsha in the 1970's (in which he played John, alongside Nida Blanca), and Home Along Da Riles in the 1990's (in which he played Kevin Kosme), while his last show on TV was Pidol'sWonderland, currently on-air at the time of his death.
