Miami Florida. National Basketball Assocation (NBA) World Champion Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade had surgery on his left knee on Monday. Wade will need at least eight weeks to recover from the surgery.

During the Heat playoff run to the world title Wade needed treatment on several occasions a week.

Wade decided to have surgery early in the offseason so he could be ready to reume his basketball career when training camp opens in the autumn.

Wade played in all of the Heat playoff games despite his knee injury. It looks like he wanted to help LeBron James and Chris Bosh achieve their dream of winning an NBA title.

Wade will not be able to play on Team USA basketball that will play in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London later in July.
