On Thursday, a small boy was crushed underneath a tombstone, weighing hundreds of pounds; the 4-year-old died while posing for memorable pictures with family. The tragic incident occurred at a ski resort town in Utah where the said 6-foot-tall stone accidentally fell over the boy.
Capt. Phil Kirk of Park City police said that while Carson Dean Cheney held on to the tombstone; all at once, the metal connecting it to its pedestal gave in. Before anyone could even move, the headstone fell on the boy, leaving the 4-year-old crushed underneath it.
Little Caron who was there at the cemetery with friends and family, went behind a tombstone, said a family friend introduced as Curtis Morley. ‘Everyone laughed to see Carson who playfully poked his head out repeatedly from behind the stone,’ said Morley.
By doing so, added Morley, he not only made other children responsive while being photographed; but he made all of the people around laugh and smile. All of a sudden, the stone Carson was hiding behind fell over him, leaving him with severe injuries to his abdomen, chest and head.
Rushed to Park City Medical Centre, Carson succumbed to his injuries later. The funeral was announced set for Tuesday. Both Morley and Zac Cheney, the victim’s father, work in a Salt Lake City based professional services firm. Zac, who utilizes spare time in photography, took the family to the Glenwood Cemetery as it offers extensive landscapes for quality photos.
