One of two living members of the Beatles and winner of nine Grammy Awards,, turned 72 on Saturday. At Hard Rock Café in Nashville, Starr spent his birthday with fans and fellow musicians.
Wearing a pinstriped blazer, T-shirt, dark jeans, sneakers and two silver pendants around his neck, he celebrates a moment of peace and love at the stroke of noon, and urged everyone else to do the same. He always does this on his birthday.
He was quoted as saying, "Wherever you are -- on a bus, in the office, in the studio, hanging out ... whatever you're doing, at noon, just go, 'Peace and love.' That's all I ask for my birthday. Peace and love."
Oh, by the way, Ringo is a vegetarian like me, he attributes his trim physique to Pilates and a sensible diet. For your info, broccoli is his main course, again just like me, I love that stuff. He said, keep yourself fit. So as long as you do something physical, keep moving.
Fellow members of his ever-rotating All-Starr band are all there: Toto's Steve Lukather; music producer extraordinaire Todd Rundgren; a young-looking Richard Page from Mr. Mister; Santana's Gregg Rolie sporting aviators. Country star, Ed Roland from Atlanta-based , Jeff Russo of Tonic, and Roy Orbison Jr. are also on hand to pay tribute to the British icon. Oh, there’s one more pal, the Eagles’ legendary who jokingly said he’ll interrupt the interview and take a seat on Starr’s lap.
Happy 72nd birthday, Ringo Starr.
