FARS is reporting that Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi on Saturday inaugurated the production line of a new home-made anti-armor missile system named 'Dehlaviyeh'.
"The Dehlaviyeh missile is one of the most hi-tech anti-armor missiles designed for destroying different advanced tanks which are equipped with reactive armor," Vahidi said of the missile system.
He also reiterated that the missile has been equipped with a special guiding system (which is resistant to different types of enemy's electronic warfare), a warhead and a missile-launcher and a portable engine-propeller.
"The missile system has been designed in a way that it can hit both fix ground targets and mobile armored targets," Vahidi said.
The new missile has some American military officials concerned.
According to Al-Mashreq website, Tehran has prepared a detailed plan of the defense in case of a ground offensive by the West (see also article: Iran presents battlefield contingencies http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,
“In any kind of military campaign in Iran these new missiles could put our tanks and armored personnel carriers in danger “, said one U.S. Army soldier at Ft. Hood, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
“We know Iran has good anti tank weapons now, in the event of war we will have to possibly face these missiles blowing our tanks up…” he said.
The soldier who serves with an Armor unit at Ft. Hood shared links with us of Youtube videos which demonstrate Iranian missile capabilities (see video: Iran's Anti tank missile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-9ajRIuW
The soldier explained that Iranian weapons, such as the Toofan and Dehlaviyeh are highly effective weapons “which can cause a lot of damage” to such things as tanks and armored personnel carriers.
“We don’t relish the idea of fighting in Iran. Do not get me wrong we will if we have to, but none of us here want to fight in yet another war right now. Especially, If it can be avoided in some way…”, the soldier said.
