
If you can say Jagadish Chandra Bose had done nothing for the modern version of radio,or Newton has nothing to do with Modern Physics , you may also say that Einstein and S.N.Bose had nothing to do with subatomic particle called ‘boson’.

But many in our country are trying to denigrate the importance of Satyendranath Bose and Einstein research coordination. Even Peter Higgs himself agreed that "boson" is derived from Satyendra Nath an Indian physicist from Kolkata who, in 1924, realised that the statistical method used to analyse most 19th-century work on the thermal behaviour of gases was inadequate. He first sent off a paper on the quantum statistics that he perfected in Dhaka to a British journal, which turned it down. He then sent it to Albert Einstein, who immediately grasped its immense importance, translated the paper, and published it in a German journal. (And so our invented German provenance turns out to be not wholly inappropriate.) Bose's innovation came to be known as the Bose-Einstein statistics, and became a basis of quantum mechanics. Einstein saw that it had profound implications for physics; that it had opened the way for this subatomic particle, which he named, after his Indian collaborator, "boson". Few physicists would disagree with the suggestion that the Bose-Einstein statistics have had much wider consequences for physics than the Higgs boson has had.
Some are trying to focus on fermion based on the name of Enrico Fermi . Unlike fermions, bosons have integer spin and obey Bose–Einstein statistics. This class of elementary particles includes the photons and gluons, as well as the Higgs boson. The concept can be extended to other subatomic particles obeying Bose-Einstein statistics, such as mesons (e.g., pions and kaons), and nuclei of even mass number (e.g., helium-4). The Indian link to the world's ambitious experiment was also significantly reflected in comments ahead of the announcement by CERN scientists that a sub-atomic particle "consistent" with the Higgs boson or 'God particle' has been spotted. Dr Archana Sharma is the only Indian on the rolls of CERN. Since 1989 she has worked on instrumentation, detector design, also development, installation and commissioning of the CMS experiment. She is now back on the drawing board designing the detectors for the LHC (Large Hadron Collider which is a gigantic scientific instrument used as a particle accelerator) upgrades. She too calls it a ‘historic moment’ and refers to S.N.Bose-Einstein observation.Peter Higgs himself is grateful to S.N.Bose for opening the ways to sub atomic particles. What S.N.Bose’s son has said in Kolkata is not much important.He might have told that either out of ignorance or out of humility that the ‘God particle’ has nothing to do with his father’s research. He is not an authentic voice at all in this matter by virtue of being the son of the great scientist.Dr.Archana Sharma very categorically expressed her regards to S.N.Bose by saying that the name ‘boson’ makes everything clear.
New research opens channels for new thinking. The impact of basic research comes later naturally. But that does not mean that the pioneers have to be denied their credit. Tagore got brickbats and was not given honour until he was awarded the Nobel prize. Shaw regarded the Nobel prize nothing better than a life belt thrown to a person who has already reached the other shores.J.C.Bose or S.N.Bose did not get Nobel prize although both of them deserved it. Today if we see the radio , we cannot conclude that it has nothing to do with J.C.Bose, because Marconi has not mentioned his name. But the world knows what J.C.Bose has done for inventing ‘electro magnetic waves’. In a similar way we cannot say that today’s project of God particle could materialize even if there was no S.N.Bose, Einstein himself recognizes him.Without Bose,the question of boson particle would not have arisen at all. Consider a time, Marconi delivers lecture at Royal Institution of Great Britain on his transatlantic wireless signal reception. He talks about the Italian Navy Coherer, but doesn’t give a definitive source of the coherer he used. There is absolutely no mention of J. C. Bose. The fact that Marconi’s wireless was actually invented by Sir J C Bose is not well-known among engineering students, academicians and professionals. Solari categorically denies that Castelli had invented the Coherer . But then whom did Marconi follow for the invention of Coherer if not J.C.Bose who gave the idea that this transmission of electromagnetic waves can be used to transmit information. But the contribution of S.N.Bose in the opening of ways for sub atomic particles has been recognized by none other than Einstein himself.
Today some half learned media in their overzealousness for flattering western science fight shy of giving credit to people particularly belonging to India .They are trying to write headline articles by denigrating the credit of Satyendranath Bose. They had better fight for making the small letter ‘b’ in ‘boson’ a capital letter. It is due to the Bose Einstein statistics that was formulated by the two great scientists that today’s ‘God particle’project has come to this great success. This discovery can be compared to ground breaking earlier discoveries such as the discovery of gravity, or relativity or quantum mechanics sitting on giant shoulders like those of Galileo, Newton and Einstein. In order to explain this missing mass there has to be some kind of particle, some kind of bosons perhaps- the Higgs bosons which could account for this missing mass. Now what we have evidenced today could indeed be in unlocking the door towards an understanding of this missing mass. That particle may not be boson but a fermion. But that will not reduce the importance of Higgs as today Higg’s particle cannot reduce importance of Bose’s boson.
