Top-seed and defending champ Serena Williams has captured her fourth Wimbledon singles title beating Vera Zvonareva in straight sets Saturday. (July 3)

Skooter reporting 07/06/12

One victory more, Serena Williams, 30, will equal her sister’s Venus tally of five Wimbledon singles title should she win on Saturday. Serena Williams created a Wimbledon record of 24 aces to overwhelm Azarenka 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) and will face Poland’s Agnieska Radwanska.

Williams served wonderfully throughout the Center Court to beat her previous Wimbledon women’s record of 23 aces, set in the third round last week, and as in a result took her tally of aces at this year’s Championships to 85.

Third seed Radwanska credibly beat Angelique Kerber of Germany 6-3 6-4 to reach her first Grand Slam final.

Radwanska played with vitality and poise during her win and is the first Polish woman to reach a Grand Slam final for 75 years. Records show that Radwanska has not won a set against Williams in their previous two meetings, including a quarter-final rout at Wimbledon in 2008.

Williams expects Radwanska to return well on Saturday.
