Tonight on “Duets” fans will learn the results of last week’s vote as the four remaining amateurs and superstars take on timeless standards with a live band on stage.
Robin and Jennifer begin the performances with “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen.
Jason, Olivia, Bridget, John, and J Rome join host Quddus on stage to learn their fate. Jason, John, and J Rome are all safe; but Olivia and Bridget are in the bottom.
After the first fan vote Olivia was eliminated from the competition leaving Robin with no singers on the show.
After being saved from the bottom two, Bridget joins John Legend on stage to perform “Unforgettable” by Nat King Cole and later by Cole and his daughter Natalie. John played the piano as they sang. Kelly said it was her favourite performance; adding that the pair sounded great together. Robin said the performance was lovely; adding that he would like to hear John remake the song. John revealed that he performed “Unforgettable” in the first talent show he won. Jennifer said it was a wonderful performance and Bridget sang with poise and class.
J Rome and Jennifer Nettles performed the Billie Holiday song “God Bless the Child” The pair got a standing ovation for their performance including Kelly Clarkson who fell on stage and injured her foot. Kelly called J Rome so talented. John called the performance incredible and J Rome just murdered it. Robin called it a Grammy winning performance; adding it was like a Billie Holiday tribute.
Kelly Clarkson and John Legend performed the Ray Charles hit “You Don’t Know Me”.
Douglas, Georgia natives John Glosson and Jennifer Nettles performed a tribute to their home state with “Georgia on My Mind”. Robin called the performance amazing; adding the song was perfect for John’s voice. Kelly said that she loves John’s voice and couldn’t wait to hear the song back on the television because John’s mic was low. Last week John Legend felt that John Glosson’s voice had a bit too much syrup but this week there was just the right amount of syrup in the performance.
Jason and Kelly ended the night’s performances with “Feeling Good”. John noted that Jason has gotten much better since the beginning of the show and was impressed with Jason’s performance. Robin said Jason had a great performance but he missed the soul. Jennifer noted how Jason has grown and blossomed.
Next week the top three amateurs will perform as the end of season one on “Duets” draws to a close.
