Queen Elizabeth of England has passed some new orders to remind her grandson’s wife that despite being popular, she is far from being royal. The new protocol requires the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, to bow before Prince William’s cousins because they share the royal blood, whereas Kate is only a commoner, leaving her deeply humiliated.
While the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebration might have seen Kate Middleton as a fully embraced member of the royal family, the Queen is doing her best to make Kate feel less important than the people she is surrounded with. Last week, as part of an official revision of the Royal Household Order of Precedence, Kate, 30, is now required to curtsy William’s royal cousins, Princess Beatrice, 23, and Princess Eugenie, 22, daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. The new order is nothing less than a slap on Middleton’s face, according to the latest issue of Life & Style magazine.
The story does sound familiar. Didn’t the same thing happened to Princess of Wales Diana, who was loved so much by so many that she was often called the People’s Princess?
To make things even worse, Middleton has to follow these orders in private as well as in public, but she isn’t required to do so when she is in the company of her royal husband.
"It's a total humiliation for Kate," a source in Kate and William's social circle confirms to Life & Style. "It's like a demotion for her in the royal family, and the queen is the one who ordered this."
Like most people think, this is the Queen’s revenge for stealing the spotlight. Undoubtedly, Kate’s popularity has eclipsed the Queen since William and Kate tied the knot nearly 14 months ago. According to a report by Hollywood Life, after the Queen failed to attract more or even equal attention than William’s beautiful bride, she decided to exercise some royal retaliation to nip Kate’s confidence and stop her from getting carried away with all the fame.
Hollywood Life also claims that Kate and William were asked to delay trying for a baby by the Queen until her jubilee was over because she didn’t want the royal bump to be the center of attention during her big event.
Prince William is apparently not happy. He sure wouldn’t like to see his wife go through the same anguish that his mother did at the hands of the Queen.

*****My opinion from across the pond: Her Majesty lived through WWII, she remembers the devastation from the Blitz. I believe that she wants the PEOPLE of Britain and the world to never forget the struggle between the forces from those who seek to rule through AUTOCRACY and the people's desire to live in FREEDOM.
*****I believe this is a BRILLIANT CIVICS lesson everyone to learn. This curtsy rule MUST stay!
*****Long ago the British people tamed the autocratic force of an autocratic monarchy with the MAGNA CARTA. For those who don't remember what this is Google it---we must NEVER FORGET THIS MAGNIFICENT DOCUMENT.
*****We who live in the "the West" today live under governmental model that allows us to CHOSE representatives to defend OUR view of governmental influence in OUR lives. This curtsy rule is a reminder how it USED TO BE.
*****I APPLAUD the Queen's decision to have Kate curtsy to William's cousins when he is not around. I adore the phrase, "the blood princesses." We should NEVER forget that in our past all of us 'serfs' once 'bowed' to the rulers who told us they were "God's chosen or even GOD among them." If this was not HRH’s intent then it’s the greatest ‘accident’ in history!
*****But I believe this is Her Majesty's last gift to her beloved kingdom: Never forget where we have come from and be grateful where we are going. Before this curtsy rule SHE initiated the RULE CHANGE that allows a daughter born to William and Kate to be queen and NOT a younger brother; GOOD RIDDANCE old autocracy!
*****As an American watching all this I say, "God save the Queen."
