Because of Earth's axis of rotation around the sun, the North and the South Poles have different amount of sunlight falling on them. For half the time the sun never rises over on pole and never sets over the other.This photo is of the sunrise over Southpole captured by Calee Allen of NSF this September. I've never seen sunrise this beautiful.
