On Monday, 2 adults and a young boy were found dead inside a Brooklyn apartment; police described the carnage as double murder, suicide. Among the dead were David Sherrod, his spouse Alma Cox and Alma’s grandson Jaquan Cox. Police strongly believe that 44-year-old ex-con David shot the victims to death; before turning the gun on himself to commit suicide.
The violent and tragic incident occurred inside David Sherrod’s Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment in Brooklyn when he turned the place into a bloodbath. Apparently, he fatally shot his wife along with her beloved 7-year-old grandson and then committed suicide, cops said Tuesday. Investigations were underway.
David Sherrod used a .357 caliber revolver to shoot Alma Cox Jaquan Cox in the head and later blew himself away. The entire bodies were discovered by police on Monday by at around 11:50 p.m. while responding to a 911 call, tell about a foul odor spreading around, coming from the Lafayette Avenue’s second-floor apartment.
Detectives believed that the tragedy may have occurred on Saturday night since the bodies appeared to be decomposing in the hot. Further, some of the neighbors said they heard gunshots though but didn’t call police. 51-year-old Cox was reportedly hosting the child for the weekend that actually lived with his father, in Poughkeepsie.
Meanwhile, according to some close friends and family members, Sherrod had often been abusive to Alma Cox and thus at times; Alma had been threatening him to leave.
Both Sherrod and Alma were employed with a nonprofit group called the Northeast Brooklyn Housing Development Corp. Alma had been with the firm for over 18 years.
