This Wednesday, America will turn another year older. Along with America’s birthday comes barbeques, a trip to the beach, and of course, Fireworks. This year, one of America’s greatest singer/songwriter, Barry Manilow [Unlink]
, will help celebrate this nations birth with a trio of concerts at the Hollywood Bowl. I was fortunate enough to attend last night’s performance and was not disappointed. Manilow continues his performance tonight, and will conclude the final engagement on Wednesday, the Fourth Of July. Having seen Manilow perform several times in the past, I knew what to expect from him. He takes the stage, performs his greatest hits, and talks in between songs. What is wrong with that? Absolutely nothing! This is the formula that has kept Manilow at the top of his game and selling out concert performances. Tonight proved to be no different. The audience, as is with most Manilow shows, were singing along to the lyrics and having a great old time. What better way than to spend an intimate evening with Barry Manilow under a starry, moonlit night in the warmth of summer. Manilow sang crowd favorites “Looks Like We Made It”, “I Write The Songs”, and my all-time favorite Manilow song”Mandy”. In additon to Manilow, there were two other stars present at this performance: The Hollywood Bowl and the Fireworks Spectacular that followed the show. No where else in America can you see such a top-quality headliner as Manilow, in such a historic, intimate-feeling venue tucked into the hills, followed by a fireworks display that would rival most city’s Fourth Of July events. A great time was had by all. Visit hollywoodbowl.com to purchase tickets for tonight and tomorrow night’s remaining performances. Both performances will feature the Fireworks Spectacular.
