
In Maine the prices of lobster have dropped, it may be good for tourists and even the people who live in Maine that have a palette for lobster. It is not such good news for people who go out into the water to catch theM.
In Portland, Maine small soft shelled lobster sold for the unheard of low price of $3.79-$4.99 a pound which is extremely low price. At many delis in Maine you can go to a meat fish counter in the supermarket and get lobster for less amount of money per pound than a pound of bologne.
An Austin, Texas man who is in Maine vacationing with his family named Zain Nemazie thought lobster would be cheap, but not this cheap. Late last week Nemazie paid $4.59 a pound and bought large 1 1/2 pound lobsters at a seafood shop on Portland's waterfront, He said, "This is as good as it gets. We're from Texas where we'd be paying $12 a pound.
There is a seafood store called "Docks Seafood" in South Portland, Maine. The owner is named Bob Coppersmth said customers have been loving the prices. Once he had a deal for the people, five small lobster that were alive for $25 then he gave the same amount away he just dropped the rice a dollar.
"One gentleman came in and said'so I get five lobsters for $25 what's the catch", Coppersmith said, "I said there's no catch. 'He said , you're going to put five lobsters in a bag and not weigh them and give them to me for $25' He just couldn't believe it".
