While most of the time people who get visited by CT DCF are not prepared or expecting there are some occasions where you do know. If you have had a family issue and the court has requested that DCF work with your family, or if the neighbor across the street is making false allegations because they do not like you. No matter what the reason may be the first thing you need to think about is finding a good Connecticut DCF Defense Attorney. Secondly, you need to make sure you know all of your rights, I would suggest that you take the time to read this article about the mini-miranda laws that were put in place July 2011.

If approached by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, you immediately present them with your DCF Defense Attorney’s business card and explain to them that you will not discuss nor sign any documentation without your dcf defense attorney present that will immediately put you 10 steps ahead of the DCF.

Even if you are unable to afford a DCF Defense Attorney it is still always a great idea to have someone with you at all times that can be an advocate for you. We have advocated for many people and when you know what to say and do, even more importantly what not to say and do then you increase the odds of keeping your family together by unimaginable odds.

The main job or objective of a Connecticut DCE Defense Attorney is to like a regular defense attorney; provides help to adult clients who have serious problems with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF), who have been accused of child abuse or child neglect, or who are involved with the Connecticut Juvenile Court.

I would like to continue writing more but it is getting quite late, I will be writing up a small pamphlet that you can print out and refer to if you are in fear that the CT DCF may be visiting you soon, and it will explain all of your rights as well as suggestions to keep yourself and your family safe. Until then if you have any questions please contact us, and we will try to get back to you as soon as possible.
