Marijuana is more dangerous than heroin, morphine and opium!

Drug abuse is one of the biggest problems in America today. Teenagers and adults are highly involved in it, with gangs supplying these dangerous drugs in huge amounts to meet the ever-increasing demand; the problem is on an all-time high.

The government has put several bans on these dangerous drugs; however, they are still brought to the country illegally. Five of the most infamous drugs, with their effects, are given below:

Heroin is one of the most widely used drugs, due to its affordable cost (comparatively) and easy availability. It is directly processed from the extracts of poppy (opium). The drug was originally created to cure people who were addicted to morphine.

When heroin reaches the body, it gets converted into morphine, and imitates the actions of endorphins, creating a strange sensation. One of the most frequent methods of heroin use is through intravenous injection.

The drug slows down the central nervous system and leads to depression. Heroin addicts often complain of headache and several other health issues.

Marijuana is derived from the plant cannabis sativa. The use of cannabis is normal worldwide for medicinal and recreational purposes.

Marijuana is usually ingested or smoked. It has psychological and psychoactive effects on human mind. It leads to intoxication and the person goes “high”. The experience you get is based on dose, potency, method of consumption and chemical composition. It is banned in some states and is legal in some, with certain restrictions on use and limit.

The production, distribution and sale of cocaine are restricted in many states due to its abuse. Cocaine, a crystalline tropane alkaloid, is extracted from coca plant leaves. It boosts the energy levels and gives a sense of happiness.

There are several positives associated with the drug; however, the negatives overshadow the positives in this case. The drug affects the brain, heart and emotions. It is highly addictive, and an overdose can lead to serious issues.

Opium is one of the most widely used and dangerous drugs in the world. It is prepared from the latex that is derived from the immature seed pods of papaver somiferum (opium). It has morphine present in high amounts.

One of the major reasons for the high demand of opium is the ease to smoke it, when compared to other drugs such as marijuana. Opium is a very dangerous drug with dire results. The negative results include respiratory complications, pregnancy issues, reduction of sex hormone levels and even death.

Methamphetamine, also known as ice or meth, is a psychostimulant drug. It triggers a release of dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine, which results in excitement and euphoria; however, it also leads to addiction and abuse. It is available only by prescription for medical use under the name Desoxyn.

One should consume it wisely as it has negative effects such as stroke, nausea, paranoid delusions, sweating and aggression.

Always, remember to only take prescribed drugs in the prescribed limit. Also, be aware of the state laws, as in several states possession of illegal/banned drugs is a criminal offence.
