Last time, Spain, winners of the world cup, carried on the momentum for which they were known. This time again, they blew minds of spectators and the world with their extraordinary skills and talent. It was, however, not that comfortable to reach the final, since they had to face some of the best teams that play in the Euro Cup.
The semi-final match in which Portugal played extravagantly and even extra time couldn’t bring about a goal to add to the results was indeed a nail biter. It was a test of skills and stamina. But it was Spain’s day and they won the game in the penalty shootout.
In the final yesterday, the Spanish team was in their heels right from the word go and in the 14th minute, Silva found the back of the net and just before the half time, another striker scored a goal, creating further difficulties for Italy.
The second half was more or less the same, but Italian players did improve on their possession. Still there was little to say about the body language of Italy. It was as if they had already accepted defeat in their hearts, but it was completely over for Italy when in the 90th minute, Fernando Torres was brought on and within a few minutes he scored the 3rd goal. At this point, there was no way that the Italian side could have won, and then the final blow by Spain made sure that the reigning world champions would become the champions of Europe once again.
It won't be incorrect to say that Italy completely failed to match the momentum and the skill level of the Spanish team.
