Spain retain their European Championship trophy in style 4-0

After Spain’s historic win over Italy in the final of Euro 2012, Coach Vicente del Bosque has hailed Spain's "great generation of footballers.”

La Roja is the first team to win three successive major international tournaments - 4-0 victory in Kiev.

Spain were at their dazzling best as goals from David Silva, Jordi Alba, Fernando Torres. All three became the first player to score in two Euros finals, and what about Juan Mata? He helped them overshadow the Italians by the biggest winning margin in a Euros final. What’s more they also retained the crown they first won in Vienna four years ago.

And here’s more, La Roja have also claimed their first World title in South Africa and have now built a convincing case to be classified as the best team in history.

The Sunday's victory in Kiev proves that the critics were wrong in their recommendations that Spain have abandoned attacking principles and are not entertaining to watch.

The 61-year-old Coach Del Bosque said that they were talking about a great generation of footballers and that they know how to play together because they come from a country where they learn to play properly. He added that this is a great era for Spanish football. To win three titles is nearly impossible and he congratulated his players.
