Pop star Cher has upset the Mormon community by posting an anti-Mormon slur on her Twitter account while attacking presidential hopeful Mitt Romney. The tweet has also set off a series of attacks between the singer and other Twitter users.
Cher has long been known as one of the most vocal Romney haters, probably because he doesn’t support gay rights. The fervent Democrat sent out a tweet on Friday, urging President Obama to gear up for the election and get his aides organized if he doesn’t want to risk losing the game at the hands of Mitt Romney, a Mormon.
Cher wrote, "I Feel if he (Obama) doesn't get all his DUCKS IN A ROW we'll b forced 2 listen 2Uncaring Richy Rich! The whitest man in MAGIC UNDERWEAR in the WH (White House)."
Her remarks stirred unrest among Romney supporters and offended some prominent members of the Mormon Church. Cher’s latest slur, “magic under wear”, refers to the formal garment, usually known as “Celestial underwear” or “Mormon underwear”, which the Mormons wear inside their temples to serve as a symbolic reminder of their faith. Poking fun at it is considered highly derogatory.
Without wasting anytime, the Mormons charged back at Cher with some calling her an “anti Mormon bigot” and another saying that the singer doesn’t think before she speaks. "I guess she is another example of a celebrity who surrounds themselves with people who always tell them what they want to hear so that they don't have to think before they speak or tweet in this case," read a tweet.
Cher doesn’t seem to have realized that she has made an insulting comment over someone’s religion and has so far not apologized for her “magic underwear” crack on Twitter or anywhere else.
This is not the first time that Cher has tried to attack Mitt Romney through Twitter. Back in May, Cher tweeted, “If ROMNEY gets elected I don’t know if i can breathe same air as Him & his Right Wing Racist Homophobic Women Hating Tea Bagger Masters,” again setting off some really angry responses, which she later tried to end by telling tweeters to get of her site if they dislike her so much.
Well, Cher, you are a great artist and everything, but may be it's about time you consider getting a publicist do the tweeting for you.

An informed, intelligent discussion about a candidate's religion is perfectly valid -- look at how Obama had to answer for his affiliation with Rev. Wright -- but Cher's Tweet doesn't fall into that category.
Obama has also changed his positions on major issues, such as his recent flip flop on gay marriage, rendering the entire flip flopper line of attack against Romney irrelevant.
I have spent a lot of time examining Romny's character. From all I have seen, he has lived a family-centered life, giving tons of help to needy members of his community, giving upwards of 20 hours / week of service.. Portrayals of him as mean-spirited seem very out-of-touch with the actual life the man has actually lived.
