(VIDEO) Texas ‘Stand Your Ground’ Shooter Sentenced To 40 Years In Prison

Raul Rodriguez, the 47-year-old Texas man was sentenced to 40 years in prison for killing his neighbor during a brawl over loud music in 2010. Rodriguez shot and killed his neighbor, 36-year-old teacher Kelly Danaher by a handgun, following a dispute over loud music at a birthday party at Danaher’s house. He also wounded two other men presented there.

The judges dismissed Rodriguez’s claim on Wednesday which stated that he shot Danaher in self-defense under Texas’ version of the “stand your ground” law. However, Rodriguez who faced a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of life in prison before sentencing, will be eligible for parole in 20 years, reported the Reuters.
