
In order to mark the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II, the Big Ben clock tower, a famous landmark of London, is being renamed to Elizabeth Tower as reported in Los Angeles Times of dated 27th of June 2012
A decision has been taken to go in his for the name change of this landmark built in 1859 by the House of Commons of the British Parliament.
This newly named Elizabeth Tower would join the Victoria Tower which was named as such in 1860 in honor of Queen Victoria to commemorate her reign of 60-years.
One has to climb the 334-steps that lead to the top of the Tower to get a birds eye view of the city of London.
