So You Think You Can Dance

This week on “So You Think You Can Dance” the remaining 35 dancers will learn who made it into the top 20. After all the dancers have been revealed, they will take the dance floor to perform together for the first time as fans prepare to vote for America’s favourite dancer.

Along with celebrating the top 20 for season nine of “So You Think You Can Dance”, the show marked a milestone with episode 200.

Joining Ballroom expert Mary Murphy and executive producer and hed judge Nigel Lythgoe at the judge’s table was actress Zooey Deschanel.

New for season nine of SYTYCD are just one episode per week and the biggest change is that there will be two winning dancers – one girl and one guy.

Up first was Alexa – the last person cut when filling the top 20 last season – and the first person to make the cut on this season.

George, Will, and Amber joined Alexa and became the first group to perform a Tyce Diorio routine to Rihanna’s “We Found Love”.

Ballroom dancers Nick, Whitney, and Lindsey perform a routine to Jennifer Lopez.

Ballet dancers Eliana, Daniel, and Keon performed a modern ballet trio that had the judges on their feet. The guys put their professional careers on hold to become a part of the show.

Jazz dancers Tiffany and Audry made it into the top 20. Belly dancer Janelle became the first belly dancer to make it into the top 20 but became ill and was not able to join Tiffany and Audry in performing a Sonya Tayeh routine. But Janelle will be ready to perform next week when the voting begins.

Matthew, Darian, Janea, and Ameila perform a Contemporary routine by Stacey Tookey that brought the judges to their feet. Amelia was the last of the girls to make it to the top 20.

Only three guy spots remain to fill out the top 20, but there are seven guys in the waiting room hoping it is their name the judges call to join the top 20.

Martial arts dancer Cole made it into the top 20; but the tap dancers didn’t make it in. Stepper Brandon made it to the top 20.

And with that there’s only one spot left and its between Dragon House dancer Cyrus and Hip-Hop dancer Feliciano.

Announcing that he had never quite seen anyone like him before, Nigel announced that Cyrus was the last person to make it into the top 20.

In honour of the All Star Baseball game the three guys performed a baseball inspired routine choreographed by Christoper Scott.

National dance day makes a return on July 28. There are two new routines for everyone to learn. Details at and

The 10 girls, minus Janelle, perform together in a Contemporary routine by SYTYCD alum Travis Wall. Nigel called the performance beautiful.

Next up were the guys with a routine choreographed by Sonya Tayeh that brought the judges to their feet and the audience cheering.

The final performance of the night was the entire group of season nine contestants performing a routine by Emmy Award winning choreographer Mia Michaels.

“So You Think You Can Dance” will be taking a break for the Independence Day holiday next Wednesday on July 4 but will return for the first week of competition on July 11.
