Somalia: Information ministry and Independent media officials meet in Mogadishu

Mogadishu: Very crucial meeting between officials of Somali government’s information ministry and independent media has today on Wednesday taken place in the Somali capital Mogadishu, state media reported.

The meeting took place at the Headquarter of ministry of information and it was very colorful occasion that officials from ministry of information and journalists from local F.M stations, news agencies and T.V stations attended it.

The gathering that was meant how collective cooperative relations would share the ministry of information and the independent media agents would take part in coming convention that draft constitution would be approved by the delegates assigned.

Yusuf Ali Osman “Farey”, Somali information ministry’s director for relations of journalism told officials of the ministry of information in the hole that independent and private news stations suggested complaints to government officials that needs to be considered according to the priorities given only state media especially the National T.V but asked for get equal right in news search.

Direct general of information minister, Abdirisak Ali Yusuf speaking at the occasion said that he was very much pleased with having attended the assembly saying that they are changes in the country, in particular the capital Mogadishu.

“The Al-Qaeda linked group of Al-shabaab extremists used to control some of independent media stations in the country before the government librated them from the capital and some of the south and central regions in Somalia. ” , said the MIPT general director,

Mr. Abdirisak added that the information ministry implemented F.M stations in the liberated regions, urging all journalists and media stations to work with the interest of the country positively.

Deputy and acting information minister, Abdullahi Bile Nur, who spoke at the spot, encouraged the journalists to cover productive news that leads the country in peace and development, but doesn’t serve negatively.

The information ministry invited two journalists from each station: one reporter and a cameraman who will cover stories from where the draft constitution would be approved 1st July next week.

However, there are 24 local F.M stations, 13 news agencies and 11 T.Vs operate in the Somali capital Mogadishu.
