TMZ says, "Our sources say Savannah Guthrie has already made her deal with the network to succeed Ann as co-anchor of 'Today,' but the snag is the amount of money Ann will get."and NBC are trying to negotiate her exit from “Today” and the bone of contention is money. TMZ has said that their sources have revealed that Savannah Guthrie has already been selected for the post of the new co-host of “Today”.
Curry, who takes $10 million a year, is one year into a 3-year contract, but NBC does not want to pay her the remaining $20 million.
TMZ’s sources reveal that Ann wants the remaining amount along with her exit papers. On the other hand, NBC is not willing to release such a huge amount of funds at the moment. They are more interested in giving her $10 million and a foreign correspondent job.
NBC is planning to announce their replacement quickly, especially before the Olympics 2012. It is reported that the announcement of Savannah is scheduled late this week or early next. However, as long as the impasse between the NBC and Curry is settled, this announcement cannot be made.
"NBC wants to make the switch quickly," the TMZ report says. “Certainly before the Olympics so they can showcase Savannah. We're hearing the goal is to make the announcement late this week or early next."
Meanwhile, Curry showed up on “The Today Show” today. Although the news of her replacement is an open secret, both Curry and NBC are trying to keep it low. No statements regarding her replacement has been officially made by NBC.
Curry commenced her career as news anchor in 1997.
