China has a long tradition of eating dogs in emergency situations where food is scarce.But consider as a one of the hot and loving menu in restaurants is highly unacceptable.

At several dog meat restaurants in the Guangzhou city, in southern China ,dog meat lovers may chose from a long list of specialty dishes, including dog soup and steak dishes. Lovers of dog meat may stand and watch the animals of their choice butchered and prepared to their taste.

The animals are chopped up and cooked in front of diners - despite a growing anti-cruelty campaign.

The innocent animals are picked up alive and driven to market crammed into tiny cages before being slaughtered.

Chinese still maintain distinction between dogs and cats raised on farms for their meat and those bred to be kept as pets in homes.

In particular, many people object to the manner in which dogs are killed to be eaten. The canines are often beaten to death in order to release blood into the meat.

Dog and cat meat lovers beliefs in China that their meat keep them warm against cold in winter.Others say dog meat promotes sweating in summer and helps the body offload heat.

Pet lovers' associations have sprung up in Chinese cities over recent years driven largely by a growing Chinese middle-class who keep dogs as pets.

China is one of the eleven countries of the world where eating dog meat is legal and still socially acceptable.
