It was a huge gathering at the NORSU cultural and sports complex for the public forum/ presentation of the NORSU presidency candidate, on Friday June 22, 2012. During which four candidates were presented to the audience, who are all in the running to becoming the next president of Negros Oriental State University (NORSU).
The candidates are namely: Dr. Ma. Elsa Ilona Ausria Bulado, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and the NORSU vice-president for Administration and special concerns; Dr. Reynaldo Geronides Tan, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and a lecturer at the NORSU graduate school; Dr. Briccio Maputi Merced, JR., graduate of BS Education and university librarian of the university of Philippines; and Dr. Don Vicente Real, a doctor of Education and the campus administrator of NORSU Bais city campus.
The candidates were given 10 minutes to present their vision, mission, goals and their major programs they wish to pursue if ever they would be elected to be the president of NORSU, which they all promise to continue in the path of excellence for the betterment of the school.
They were also given 15 minutes to answer questions from the audience; that is the students, faculty and staff, and representatives for government officials during the public forum.
The search committee for presidency (SCP) includes: Silliman university president Dr. Ben Malayang III, cebu normal university president Dr. Marcelo Lopez, former region 7 Director of the National Economic Development Authority Malene Rodriguez, Commission on Higher Education Region 7 Director Dr. Amelia Biglete and representative of the Alumni, faculty and student sectors Dr. Cecilia Abringe.
DR. Ben Malayang III, the search committee for presidency (SCP) chairman said that the committee will choose three candidates that would be submitted to the Board of Regents for voting.
He stated that the candidate who will get the most votes from the Board of Regent will be the next president of NORSU.
In his closing remark, President Dr. Henry Sojor encouraged the candidate who would become the next president of NORSU to keep his/her promises and to do his/her best to make the school a better place.
