Creative Director Frida Giannini did a bang up job, nailing it for Gucci’s Menswear Spring/Summer 2013 collection at Milan Fashion Week on June 25, 2012 in Milan, Italy.
Giannini, who was appointed the head of accessories at about the time that charismatic designerleft in 2004, is seeing that the Italian design house dishes up a good dose of Mediterranean charm in its Menswear offering for next Spring/Summer.
Rome-born Giannini spoke of her vision for using strong colors next summer, adding that her new collection allows the Gucci man “to rediscover his chic Mediterranean side,” and to do that she has used hot corals in every shade, raspberry, deep Mediterranean Sea blue and jade green as well as baby blue stripes and turquoise for a bit of coolness, tempered by Italian citrus hues of lemon yellow, tangerine as well as a gelato favorite: pistachio, as sported by alook-a-like model!
Gucci offers sharp summery suits in brights, floral slacks in corals and blues, striped suits and separates, colorful cardigans and netted jumpers, some sharp and colorful all-weather coats that are not quite trench and their sporty hip-length jackets.
Throw in some pretty scarf prints in masculine color combinations, to be paired with white slacks or a cool baby blue and white striped suit and the collection is nicely rounded off for any occasion, accessorized with the Gucci equestrian loafer in white and pretty shades of blue, saffron, olive as well as practical chocolate brown and their quintessential Gucci striped or alligator embossed overnighter bags.
