NewOrleans Louisiana. New Orleans Police Department spokesman Frank Robertson said in a news release on Saturday night the police have an arrest warrant for Marquis Matthews, 17, of New Orleans for the shooting death of Marc Canty, 17, of New Orleans who shot to death in the back yard in the 2100 block of Selma Street Friday afternoon.
Canty called 911 before he was killed to report he was being pursued by Matthews. The police said Matthews has no adult criminal record but he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Robertson said eyewitnesses helped detectives identify Matthews as the suspect of the murder of Canty. Once Matthews is captured by the police he will be charged with second degree murder.
New Orleans Police detective Jacob Lundy is the lead investigator in this case. The police are asking anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Matthews to call the New Orleans police at 504-658-5300 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
