Shakira pregnancy rumors false says father

Belly-dancing, Colombian pop star Shakira is not pregnant, her father said on Friday about rumors that have gone viral in Latin America.

"I heard my daughter's pregnancy is confirmed... Some media announcement," said William Mebarak said in a statement. "It is absolutely wrong."

Latin American media stories speculating that the singer will become a mother soon have been circulating for weeks.

According to reports, the rumored father is Shakira's longtime companion, Spanish football star, Gerard Pique.
