Eden Prairie Minnesota. Fox Sports North reports on Thursday Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier has named Christian Ponder his starting quarterback for the 2012 football season.
Frazier said that backup quarterback Joe Webb will have to beat out Ponder for the starting quarterback position. Frazier said if Ponder gets injured Webb would make an excellent back up quarterback.
In the 2011 football season Ponder replaced starting quarterback Donovan McNabb in October. With the addition of a healthy running back Adrian Peterson, wide receiver Jerome Simpson and tight end John Carlson to run the Vikings offense.
Ponder told 1500 ESPN.com on Thursday "I've gotten bigger, I'm stronger. I'll try to keep my flexibilty. There's a lot of different things we can do flexibilty wise with yoga. Just trying to keep my body in the right condition and getting stronger."
