Miami Heat president Pat Riley to receive an a lifetime achivement award

Miami Florida. The National Basketball Coaches Association will present Miami Heat president Pat Riley with the Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award.

A news conference before the fourth game of the 2012 National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals will make the announcement.

Riley joins previous winners Tommy Heinsohn (2009), Doctor Jack Ramsay and Tex Winter (2010), and Lenny Wilkins (2011).

The award is named in memory of former basketball coach Chuck Daly and is presented to the person who best represents a "standard of intergrity, competitive balance and the timeless promotion." of the game of basketball.

Riley became very close friends of the former Detroit Piston basketball coach after Daly was dying of pancreatic cancer in 2009.

Riley and Daly were coaching rivals during the NBA Finals when Riley coached the Los Angeles Lakers and Daly coached the Detroit Pistons.

Riley was reported to be very flattered to receive this award when he received the news.
