On March 15, 2012, my husband and I began the HCG diet and both released over 40 lbs over the next 90 days. My husband shed 47 and I lost 40.8. It has been quick, easy and life changing, to say the least.
It all started with that delicious Phase One load. "Loading" is where you cram as much food down your gullet as you can in two days. Some people opt for anywhere from two to five days. We both gained over three pounds pigging out. We kept our HCG bible close by, which is Dr. Albert Simeon's manuscript called Pounds and Inches. It told us what to do and what to expect, and it broke down the science of it all.
Then we put our bodies into complete shock, hence the loading, by dropping down to Phase Two, called the "Very Low Calorie Diet" (VLCD) for 35 days. My first day I dropped a whopping 6.6 lbs. It was crazy! But I wasn't complaining.
After our 35 day VLCD's we went into Phase Three, "Stabilization," for 21 days. This phase allows you to eat anything but starches and sugars. We jumped straight into eating coconut oil chocolate desserts made with stevia or splenda and paleo-style eating.
I made three different types of pizzas, which were a great way to replace all the fattening white flour choices out there. From almond flour, flax seed meal to a cauliflower crust, we tried them all. Oh, they are so delicious!
Finally, our last couple of weeks before we started a new round, we were allowed to eat sugars and starches, which we quickly found out packed the pounds back on quick if we weren't careful, so we stayed away from them, for the most part.
We found the key to keeping it off was to eat mostly lots of good fats and protein. Yes, I said fats! Believe it or not, you can eat a lot of fat, if you keep away from sugars and starches. It is so good! I love avocados, nuts, seeds, cheese, etc.
After another very short round of 20 days, we experienced the symptoms of very little or no abnormal fat left on our bodies and both became hungry, tired and weak and knew it was time to stop. But not without some converts. Many people ask me what I did, so now I have a whole group of people I am coaching and vlogging about on YouTube who are also losing weight.
