Penn State's Storied Football Program Rocked by Sexual Abuse Scandal

6.16.12, Bellefonte, Pa-----Update in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse trial

As the prosecution wrapped up their side of testimony in the Jerry Sandusky trial on Thursday in a Centre County courtroom in Pennsylvania, more shocking testimony was given.

Day Four of the former Penn State assistant football coach child sex abuse trial was even more emotionally disturbing than the others, if that's possible. A total of eight witnesses have testified against Sandusky, accusing him of grooming them for sex as young boys, even buying one marijuana and cigarettes as a bribe to keep molesting him, while calling himself "the tickle monster."

Alleged victim after victim took the stand day after day to tell similar stories of abuse, control, rape and bribes with gifts and trips. Among them is a 25-year-old sergeant in the Army National Guard, who told of showering with Sandusky at Penn State and being lifted into the air before blacking out. He said he doesn't remember what happened after he was soaped up and shampooed by the coach, but recalls feeling very uncomfortable at what was going on but being too scared to stop it.

This incident allegedly happened in 2000 and coincides with a story by a janitor at Penn State, who told co-workers that he had seen Sandusky with a small boy lifted up in the shower with the child's--as he put it-- "d**k in his mouth."

After he returned home with wet hair, the witness said his mother was so upset she called the police and the university. This was the case the missing prosecutor took to a grand jury, but it didn't make it to trial. Why it didn't is not very clear, when Sandusky all but confessed to the mother, reportedly breaking down in front of her and mumbling he knew she would not forgive him and "I wish I were dead" as investigators listened in to the staged conversation.

Mike McQueary, another assistant coach at Penn State, also testified to seeing Sandusky raping another young boy in the showers at the university in 2001. His graphic, disturbing description of the incident included hearing slapping sounds like skin on skin. He said when he peered into the shower, he saw the accused holding the young boy closely around the midsection and there was no doubt what he was witnessing was a sex act. Defense Lawyer Amendola tried to shake his testimony but McQueary stood firmly in what he saw, saying he was only five feet away.

According to The Daily Beast, the last accuser to take the stand gave the most gut-wrenching testimony yet. The 18-year-old gave graphic details of the sexual abuse, recounting how the Penn State assistant coach would force him to perform oral sex. He told of how he would scream for help after Sandusky abused him repeatedly in the basement of his home every weekend--about "100 to 150 times" for 3 years.

The boy was reportedly only 12 years old when he said Sandusky started raping him. He said he didn't want to do it but was only 67 pounds and his abuser was a "big guy." When he was 15, he said he "grew a pair of balls" and refused to return to the Sandusky residence. He had finally gotten a cell phone and called his mom to come get him.

Defense attorney Joe Amendola reportedly then cross-examined the witness with a line of questions that can only be described as incredulous. From day one, his defense strategy left many scratching their heads in puzzlement. He allowed his client to give a series of interviews which could be extremely damaging to his credibility. Moreover, the prosecution had planned on using these ESPN and New York Times interviews during trial.

The last witness was asked if he bled during sex, if he ever saw a doctor and where Mrs. Sandusky was during his screaming. The prosecution must have been dumbfounded but pleased with his line of questioning. The jury now has three days to deliberate, mulling over the rapid barrage of horrifying testimony unveiled in only four days.

He answered that that he did bleed but never saw a doctor for he had "ways of coping with such things." He added that Mrs. Sandusky never came down stairs during all the years he slept over in her basement. He remembered that the basement was huge and said it must have been soundproof.

Where was Mrs. Sandusky?

Why did she avoid the basement in her home? Didn't she hear the screams? Moreover, didn't she wonder why her husband always had young boys sleeping over, especially isolated from the rest of the family? The Sandusky adopted several children. Were they abused also? What did she know in the 15-plus years her husband Jerry Sandusky kept bringing pubescent boys over to their home?

This bizarre case raises more questions than providing answers. Why was Sandusky left unchecked for decades when there were numerous accusations of child sexual abuse and rape against him? Who decided to drop the case after it went to a grand jury and failed to make it to trial?

Ray Gricar, the district attorney who tried to prosecute Sandusky, disappeared in 2005 and has never been seen or heard from since. Is there a connection or just an uncanny coincidence? He was declared legally dead in 2011.

Cases of abuse in children is not the excuse. The important thing is always vigilant, keeping kids from the environment. is an excellent text for the parents, in order to keep their children with the power of love and togetherness in a family environment.

Thanks for commenting.Parents can keep their children safe but sexual predators can still worm their way in for they are not the monster and bogeyman we expect them to be--there are the smiling , loving family member or trusted family friend or mentor.

Its no mystery why these things happen.... The Tv show Show The View -- CO Host Joy Behar thinks molesting someone is funny - Google "Joy Behar Molests Guest" and watch the video that comes up in the returns. I agree with the comments on the video that Ms Behar should be fired from The View.
And why do they cover up this event ----- Molesting another person IS NEVER acceptable and NEVER FUNNY no matter what......

Thanks for stopping by. Yes, I find it hard to believe she didn't know something was amiss. Why did she stay away from the basement?

It is a shame that winning football games was more important than preventing this terrible crime from happening. The kids will be scarred for a long time.

Yes George--it is a crying shame what happened to these young boys while everyone looked the other way.
