Buffalo doctor kills girlfriend, self after breakup

A doctor from Buffalo has killed his ex-girlfriend after she broke up with him and later ended his own life.

The doctor has been identified as Dr. Timothy Jorden. Before it was discovered that he had taken his own life also, a two-day search had been on for him with the police thinking he had run away after murdering his ex, Jacqueline Wisniewski. Dr. Jorden reportedly killed himself almost an hour after taking the life of his ex-girlfriend.

The two-day long nationwide search for the doctor ended when the police found his body in a thick brush about half-mile from his Lake Erie shoreline home. The police had been on a lookout for Dr. Jorden since Wednesday, when it was discovered that he had shot Wisniewski to death in a stairwell at the Erie County Medical Center. Both of them worked together at the medical center, but apparently, his girlfriend broke up with him for his strange and violent behavior and the doctor did not take the breakup well.

The 49-year-old doctor was a surgeon at the medical center and most of the people remembered him as very kind and helpful. Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda told the reporters that Jorden went to the hospital on Monday with a shotgun and a .357 Magnum pistol with the intention of killing Wisniewski. He lured her to the basement of the hospital and then shot her five times at a point-blank range. When he made sure Wisniewski was killed, he fled from the hospital and reached his house about 30 minutes later. After a short while, Jorden was seen leaving his house and going down a path to a ravine before disappearing in the woods. Jorden then killed himself with one shot to the head from the same gun he used on Wisniewski. According to authorities, he did not leave a suicide note behind.

According to the people who knew Jorden, he withdrew large sums of money recently and gave his friends a lot of gifts. People remember him as a nice man, but according to some reports, he was a man in decline due to his health and mental issues.
