According to the 2012 rankings study, five Philippine universities placed in the top 300 universities in Asia. But before going there, the top five schools in Asia are the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (top 1 in 2011), the National University of Singapore (top 3 in 2011), the University of Hong Kong (top 2 in 2011), the Seoul National University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
From the Philippines, the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City ranked 68th from 62nd last year. The Ateneo de Manila University, which ranked 65th on 2011, made it to the top 86 this 2012. The De La Salle University dropped from 107th last 2011 to 142nd this year. The University of Santo Tomas made it to 148th from 65th the previous year.
Moving on, the University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City made it to the list for the first time and was placed 251st to 300th since the last 100 universities were in ranges of fifty.
