Engraged mobs in the Eastern state of Orrisa in India put several churches to the torch after allegations of the involvement of Christians in the murder of a Hindu leader. Neutral observers expressed serious reservations about the allegations however.
India has a long and troubled history of mobs burning churches and lynching Priests and Muslims. Trouble between the primary Indian "communities" i.e. Hindus, Muslims and Christians is considered to be a key threat facing India.
Only a month ago, bombings in the Hindua bastion of Ahmedabad threatened to unleash a reprisal against Muslims similar to the genocide a decade ago.
