The main reason why many filipinos were not able to finish their schooling is because of hardship in life. Most parents were not able to send all their children to school bec. they don't have enough money to do so. Their meager income are sometimes not even enough to feed their offsprings more so to give them primary and secondary eduction. To solved this problem many families prioritized the education of their children. This means that some children have to wait before they can continue their secondary or college education until one of their brother or sister who are prioritized by their parents finished their degree in college. This member of the family who are prioritized are now the one responsible to help one member of the family to finish his or her degree. This cycle will continue until all of them become educated.
To solved the problems of education in the philippines the Dep Ed (Department of Education) started What they called the K to12 progam. Instead of the former ten years primary and secondary education the Dep Ed will implement the 12 years curriculum for primary and secondary education. Their reason is bec. they want our educational system become at par with other more apluent countries who are implementing the K to 12 program. Only the poorest countries in the world are using the ten years curriculum according to them.
The question is, is the K to12 Educational program appropriate for our students? The answer is a no brainer. A country like the Philippines who is still a third world country could not afford this educational program! A country whose some families are struggling to feed their families that they even resorted in cooking food from the garbages of fast food companies would in a million years could not afford this educational program!
