The Pentagon launched a review of the activities of Leonie Industries, the leading private company that makes information operations in support of the military in Afghanistan, the newspaper USA Today reported.
The document states that the owners of that company owed more than four million USD in taxes to the federal government, although the debt was renegotiated in March, 2012.
The company received at least 120 million USD in Pentagon contracts since 2009.
Congressman John Tierney, D-Mass., asked the Pentagon a more thorough and formal investigation, and demanded more attention to complaints about the lack of control of contracts with private companies in war zones.
Total expenditure on information operations in support of the military totaled 580 million USD in 2009, primarily for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to Pentagon sources.
