The Opera “
The musical composition was filled of original lyrical melodies reflecting the true genius of Aeschylus words as envisioned by Mr. Karousos. This is serious Greek music set to even higher standards by the talented composer who feels a deep rooted longing to revive the ancient Greek classics through opera. The performance was introduced by the General Secretary of the Historical and Ethnological Society of Greece, Mr. Ioannis Ainian Mazarakis, the president of the Hellenic Literary Society Mr. Paul Nathaniel, and composer Panagiotis Karousos.
Artists who interpreted the opera were led by fine baritone Elias Tiliakos in the role of Prometheus, the protagonist of the National Opera of Greece soprano Alexandra Mattheoudaki in the role of Io and the role of the goddess Athena especially for this performance, and finally the impressive bass Vassilios Asimakopoulos in the parts of Ocean and Jupiter. Also taking part were the outstanding musicians, violinist Gennadios Bykov, cellist Eugene Bensis and pianist Marilina Tzelepi who had the musical direction.
