, wears the number 37 to remind the world just how old he is. It's his way of motivating himself and mocking his critics, as he competes for a 6 th championship ring. Fisher has already said that his plan is for sure to play next season...I feel great physically and definitely will look forward to playing basketball after these next two weeks. coming back from injury, there may not be an open roster spot for Fisher. So, how does he handle the precariousness of his future? I've always tried my best, as I approach free agent summers, to not think that much about it until I'm there, Fisher said. And especially at this time in a season, where so much is at stake right now. So I couldn't accurately or truthfully answer that question, because I don't know where I'll be emotionally or psychologically after this season is over. One thing is for sure, no matter how old Derek Fisher may be, he can still contribute in more ways than one. Whether it's a clutch 3-pointer late in the 4 th quarter or simply his veteran presence on a younger squad, Fisher has valuable assets that some team will be willing to pay him for. Perhaps, even his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
