The rapper revealed that he chose to become Winfrey’s enemy when see repeatedly criticized the type of rap music he used to play. "I would see moments when you would discuss your feelings on the culture, and everything that was wrong with the culture was what was on my CD, and I was like, 'Oh, she doesn't like me.' I was saying, 'If I can't be your friend, at least let me be your enemy, so I co-exist, '" he told Winfrey.
Winfrey said that while she doesn’t spend much time looking at people who dislike her, she did find it offending when he publically criticized her audience saying that 'Oprah's audience is my audience's parents so I could care less about Oprah or her show.'

That was not a compliment," and adding, "I heard you had a bitch named Oprah!"said, "At the time, I was just looking at the situation and I saw I was developing negative feelings for someone who doesn't even know me -- and I gave it to the dog.” Cent told her that now things are different because he respects her and has no bad feelings about her. “I love you”, he said sheepishly telling her that he also has a cat named Gayle, after Winfrey’s best friend, Gayle King.
“This is a huge milestone for me. Just being in your presence and on the show, that's a huge accomplishment,” Cent said.
