Skooter reporting 06/12/12
The remains of a person reported missing in an area burned by a 64-square-mile fire in northern Colorado, have been found by authorities.
The 62-year-old Linda Steadman’s home received a couple of emergency warnings after the fire started this weekend, Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith said. A fire fighter who attempted to get to her home to warn her was pushed out by the blaze.
Steadman’s remains were found Monday, Smith said. Her family has asked to mourn privately.
An estimated 118 structures west of Fort Collins were damaged by the blaze and has prompted hundreds of evacuations. How many were homes and how many were shed or other structures haven’t been determined by firefighters yet.
The Colorado blaze and massive wildfires in drought-parched New Mexico have been testing the resources of state and federal crews.
