Charlize Theron shaves her hair off for upcoming role in 'Mad Max'

Charlize Theron is no stranger to going to the extreme for a movie role.

The Oscar winner showed off her new buzz cut in Hollywood on Monday.

She shaved shaved off her shoulder-length locks to portray Furiosa in the upcoming movie Mad Max: Fury Road.The film, an adaptation of the 1979 Mad Max film with Mel Gibson, also stars Tom Hardy, and will start shooting next month in Africa.

Her new release, Prometheus, was second over the weekend, while Snow White and the Huntsman came in at third. Both pictures were bested by the new animated film Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted.

The actress was seen on Monday around Hollywood taking care of her child and sporting a new haircut. Shaving off all her hair, the actress has been hiding her new look under the wide brim of a hat to avoid the paparazzi from getting a photograph of the short cut.
