Spain’s Rafael Nadal won the rain-delayed French Open 2012 Men’s singles title on Monday, beating the Serbian Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. By this win Nadal breaks the record of tennis legend Bjorn Borg as the maximum record holder for French Open titles. “For me the comparison to the great Borg is a great honor,” Nadal told another tennis legend John McEnroe after the victory.
Nadal could control his emotion after winning the nail biting match and was seen shedding tears. Nadal dismissed Djokovic’s hopes of becoming the third man to win four Grand Slams in a row. “This tournament is probably the most special in the world and having this trophy with me I am really emotional. It is probably one of the most special moments in my career,” the Reuters quoted Nadal as saying after the match.
