Shocking most everyone, John McCain's pick of Sarah Palin as his presidential running mate has caused quite a controversy. Most political pundits are debating the positives of having the unknown, inexperienced candidate in a race where we will likely see an Obama presidency.
Was it a calculated decision to woo disgruntaled Hillary Clinton votes? Was the goal all along to super charge the base?
The real reason for McCain's pick of Palin is he is looking for a scapegoat to blame for his failure to beat Obama come November. I think that McCain knows he is going to lose, so he is looking for a fall-guy to help save face when he returns to the senate this fall.
Its too bad that Sarah Palin, who seems like a decent person, is going to pay the price for a poorly executed campaign against a very, very tough opponent.
