
New York Giants’ 6-foot-5 giant David Diehl ends up arrested; on suspicion of drunken driving. The 31-year-old NFL star was taken into the custody in Queens’ neighbourhood Astoria on June 10th. While enjoying his team’s victory with friends in ‘Scorpio Café and Bar,’ Diehl reportedly got inebriated and when he left the bar; he smashed his BMW into vehicles, parked outside.
Following Croatia’s victory over Ireland in the first European Championship soccer tournament, Diehl reportedly celebrated with friends in the said bar in New York’s Astoria neighbourhood. As mentioned above, while leaving the bar, the Giant’s offensive lineman lost control of his BMW and subsequently crashed into multiple vehicles parked outside the café.
Police report revealed that no one was injured in the Sunday incident following which; the cops took Diehl into custody. Cops said at the time of crash, the key member of Super Bowl champs was not wearing sweatpants. Suspecting him ‘intoxicated,’ cops took him to 114th Precinct stationhouse whereby; he failed a Breathalyser test. According to a police source, charges were pending against David Diehl late Sunday night.
It is likely that the 31-year-old may be either fined or suspended since a DUI arrest; is a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. Further, the NFL Commissioner’s office may also like to review the incident. However, being his first ever offense of any kind, Diehl may get away with a suspension.
